In the morning of August 15, the 2016 National Tug-of-war New Star Series (Maanshan Station) and Anhui Province First Tug-of-war Championship was held in Maanshan city Gymnasium. Deputy Director of China General Administration of Sports Liu Beijian, Secretary of China Tug-of-war Association He Yi, Deputy Director of the Provincial Sports Bureau Chen Haijun, Vice Mayor Ma Shaohua and some other leaders joined the opening ceremony. Deputy Secretary of Maanshan government presided over the opening ceremony. Ma Shaohua delivered the welcoming speech, Chen Haijun delivered the opening speech and Liu Beijian announced the opening of the game.
The competition was held by China General Administration of Sports, China Tug-of-war Association, Anhui Provincial Sports Bureau and Maanshan Municipal Peoples’ Government and organized by Anhui provincial Social sport Guidance Centre and Maanshan Administration of Sports in the city’s gymnasium on August 16-17. There were 16 teams with more than 200 participates joined the competition.
The competition was divided into: the National Tug-of-war New Star Series (Maanshan Station): 600kg (male or female);
Anhui Province First Tug-of-war Championship: 1) Open competition: 540kg female game; 640kg male game; 600kg mixed game (4females+4males); 2) High school team: 500kg female game; 600kg male game; 600kg mixed game.
