China Macau Tug-of-war team was established in 2000. In the same year, the team brought in “Indoors Eight-athlete Tug-of-war Race”. The purpose of the team is to promote teamwork and strengthen the trust and cooperation between people, which is becoming increasing important. In order to carry out the purpose, the team members promoted the spirit of teamwork by actively joining in tug-of-war games. Since 2006, the team began to promote tug-of-war in Zhuhai city’s Doumen District. Also from since the same year, it, together with Hongkong, held “Mauca & Hongkong Tug-of-war” every year. Since the organization of the team, it has been attaching great importance to the Asian Tug-of-war Tournament, which was held every two year. Since 2007, the team also focused on strengthening the tug-of-war with competitors in China mainland and actively participated in events and activities organized by China Tug-of-war Association. Under the attention of Instituto do Desporto de Macau and guidance of team leader Lai Bailing, the team counselled and taught in primary schools, high schools and universities to promote tug-of-war techniques. We look forward that some years later more people will participate into this sport.
