Emperor Zhongzong and Xuanzhong of Tang dynasty promoted Tug of War and allowed main of hounor and courtiers to attend the game. In 709 A.D, Emperor Xuanzong and queen went to Xuanwu Gate and watched women Tug of War. The Emperor also ordered his courtiers to play the game.
